Print your documents from the road using by your mobile

Imagine printing an important document from your smartphone on the way to work and finding the printout waiting for you when you walk in the door.
Google has announced that its Cloud Print beta service will be coming to Android and iOS devices within the “next few days”, allowing users to print documents straight from their smartphone.
According to the Google Mobile Blog, the function is not just limited to Android and iPhone users however, as any mobile device that supports HTML5 can take advantage of the feature. As you may expect, the service will allow users to send documents to a printer connected to Google Cloud Print – although will be initially limited to Windows PCs. At launch, the option will only be available on Gmail and Google Docs, but is likely to spread to further sites in the future.

Tyler Odean of Google Cloud Print Team said: “Just open a document in Google Docs or an email in Gmail in your mobile browser and choose Print from the dropdown menu in the top right corner. You can also print certain kinds of email attachments (such as .pdf or .doc) by clicking the Print link that appears next to them.”

Google Cloud Print is compatible with devices running Android 2.1+ and iOS 3.0+. It will begin rolling out to US customers today and tomorrow, with a UK release to follow.
