Apple has released iOS 5.1 update to iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad addressing some important issues and addition of SIRI for Japan. I have updated to iOS 5.1 on my iPhone 4S and noticed few changes that i thought its worth sharing with you all. I have updated iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.1 mainly for “Battery Issue Fix” and found its some what working but not entirely. Previously i was getting just 1 day battery backup and now its giving just half a day more in my normal usage. I dont use internet much on my iPhone. But let that WiFi Turned ON to check mails and for Twitter (which i use 5 times or 10 times a day).
Through out the 48 hours, the upgrade seems some what OK, but not exactly as like the battery performance i got on my iPhone 4.
For my usage level, i get upto 2 days battery backup but not with
iPhone 4S. May be i should wait for one more update to let Apple to fix
the battery issue completely.
iOS 5.1 Update
When i tried to update iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5.1 the very first issue i had was, the downloading of iOS Update through Over the Air Software update feature was not working. At 90% it says “software download failed” and asked me to do the download os iOS 5.1 manually through iTunes latest release. Which took entire night to download that 800 MB file.
iOS 5.1 Jailbreak
Heard, that there is no more further way
to get back to iOS 5.0.1 too. Apple may made this move to prevent
jailbreak as users who upgraded cannot roll back to previous ios
version. iOS 5.1 currently has Tethered Jailbreak through Absinthe and Redsn0w. Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5.1 is not yet available, hence users who have not upgraded to the latest version may wait for sometime.
Was expecting a great difference and got
little difference, still the speed and performance is great as always
with the latest iOS release. Thanks for taking time to read and your
patience. Do share your views about the latest iOS 5.1 if you have
updated too.
